Kempsey Shire Council manages the strategic direction of tourism for the Macleay Valley Coast, a destination located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the NSW Mid North Coast. It is an active member of the Destination North Coast Network and Destination NSW.

The Macleay Valley Coast, like many communities within Australia, has been severely impacted by reduced visitation following the 2019 Bushfires. During this period of reduced visitation, the need to retain and support signature events, such as Sculpture in the Gaol, was highlighted.
To ensure the future success and sustainability for the Sculpture in the Gaol event, National Parks and Wildlife Service NSW, in partnership with Kempsey Shire Council, are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Event Coordinator to lead and execute the 2022 event to the highest standard.

Sculpture in the Gaol is an exhibition featuring sculpture and artwork from various professional Australian artists including works by students from schools across the Macleay. The event boasts an 11-year history and is hosted annually at the iconic Trial Bay Gaol in South West Rocks, on the Macleay Valley Coast.

This signature event is enjoyed by the community and visitors to the Macleay and presents an opportunity to celebrate the talents of local youth and professional artists from far and wide.

The 2022 Sculpture in the Gaol exhibition, scheduled to take place from 30 April – 8 May 2022, will be a celebration of the unique talent of artists from across NSW. The event will also highlight the history of the museum where the artwork is on display and the traditional owners of the land, the Dunghutti Language Group, that both the event and Gaol are located on.

The event will be comprised of two parts including a Gala event on the evening of Saturday 30 April and the art exhibition itself, which will be open every day from Sunday 1 May through Sunday 8 May 2022.

EOI Applications (including all supporting information, if any) must be submitted electronically in accordance with this EOI document and fully received by the Closing Date and Closing Time.
